Using ab initio CI calculations we have evaluated the structural, energetic and kinetic parameters of the reaction between NH2 and NO. In light of the results obtained, it appears that while the formation of molecular nitrogen is highly probable, the reaction pathway leading to N2H+OH cannot be thermodynamically excluded. The kinetic model based on the RRKM and TST methods leads to a calculated rate constant at 298 K (k = 1.64×10-11 cm3 molecule-1 s-1) which is comparable to that determined experimentally and which decreases with temperature in the range 200-700 K. © 1984.
Biodiesel is one of the most promising renewable, alternative and environmentally friendly biofuels that can be used in diesel engine without any need for any modification in the engine. However, researchers have reported that the engines running with biodiesel emit NOx in higher concentrations. To address this problem, in the present study an experimental investigation has been carried out on the combustion, performance and emission characteristics of a compression ignition (CI) engine running with biodiesel under steady state conditions with a novel NOx reducing mechanism involving a water injections system. The experimental work has been conducted on a four-cylinder, four-stroke, direct injection (DI) as well as turbocharged diesel engine. In this investigation, biodiesel (produced from the rapeseed oil by transesterfication process...
This study investigated the effect of engine backpressure on the performance and emissions of a CI engine under different speed and load conditions. A 4-stroke single cylinder naturally aspirated direct injection (DI) diesel engine was used for the investigation with the backpressure of 0, 40, 60 and 80 mm of Hg at engine speed of 600, 950 and 1200 rpm. Two parameters were measured during the engine operation: one is engine performance (brake thermal efficiency and brake specific fuel consumption), and the other is the exhaust emissions (NOx, CO and odor). NOx and CO emission were measured by flue gas analyzer (IMR 1400). The engine backpressure produced by the flow regulating valve in the exhaust line was measured by Hg (mercury) manometer. The result showed that, the brake thermal efficiency and brake specific fuel consumption (bsfc)...

In this paper, a combustion analysis of a compression ignition (CI) engine operating with biodiesel blends has been experimentally investigated to examine the effects of biodiesel on the combustion process and the characteristics of the engine noise produced by the combustion process. The experiment with different loads and speeds was conducted on a four-cylinder, four-stroke, direct injection and turbocharged diesel engine fuelled with biodiesel (B50 and B100) and normal pure diesel. The signals of vibration, acoustic and the in-cylinder pressure were measured for analysing the engine combustion. In order to examine these signals, a coherent power spectrum analysis method is used to investigate the engine noise signals for locating the frequency band which is closely related to the combustion process. Subsequently, the Wigner-Ville di...
Today TQM concept is widely used by majority of the world leading companies. However analysis of their performance shows that measurable effects are substantially less as it was expected. Besides that, the implementation of some theoretically important quality management tools often is not very successful in the particular companies. To explain this gap between the theory and practice authors suggest general scheme that reflects interconnections between a company’s strategic behavior and quality management impact on it and. In this paper we try to give some interpretation for the results of particular empirical research from viewpoint of our concept. In this empirical research we examine CI implementation patterns of Russian companies and consider them as important part of quality strategy.
Antiestrogens were used to test the hypothesis that estrogen exerts a "maintenance," as well as a "priming," effect on rat and hamster sexual receptivity as it apparently does for guinea pigs. MER-25 (75 or 150 mg/kg) significantly reduced rat LQ when given -2 hr or 8 hr after EB injection. MER-25 given at 34 hr (2 hr prior to P) failed to diminish rat LQ. With hamsters, MER-25 in large doses (750 mg/kg) given either at -2 hr or 34 hr reduced lordosis duration to 40% of controls, but this effect was confounded by severe illness among the MER-25 injected animals. Lower doses failed to block behavior, but still produced some toxicity. CI 628 (50 mg/kg) greatly reduced hamster lordosis duration and increased lordosis latency when given 0 hr, but not 34 hr, after EB. The results are consistent with similar previous work on rats and do not ...
A theoretical investigation on the mixed valence behavior, or bistability, of a series of anionic linear chains composed of beryllium atoms is presented. Calculations on Be(N)- (with N = 7, ..., 13) were performed at CAS-SCF and MR-CI levels by using an ANO basis set containing 6s4p3d2f contracted orbitals for each atom. Our results show a consistent gradual shift between different classes of mixed valence compounds as the number of beryllium atoms increases, from strong coupling (class III) toward valence-trapped (class II). Indeed, in the largest cases (N > 10), the anionic chains were found to become asymptotically closer to class I, where the coupling vanishes. The intramolecular electron-transfer parameters V(ab), E(barr), and E(opt) were calculated for each atomic chain. It is shown that the decrease of V(ab) with increasing N fo...
