The current challenges of school education are undoubtedly the skills of teachers and educators in the field of information and communication technologies, including the use given to them in the context of the classroom. In this article is made an approach to the issues of utilization and monetization of these technological resources in schools, specifically for teachers in the first cycle of basic education in the municipality of Viseu. To this end, it was assumed as a methodological option, the development of a quantitative and qualitative research. The course addresses a quantitative non- probabilistic sample of 229 teachers of the 1st CEB (primary schools), of the municipality of Viseu. The ride quality on the basis of reference covers the discursive devices of a purposive sample of two teachers of the 1st CEB a school contemplated...
It Has Often Been Assumed That a Country's Tax Level, Tax Structure Progressivity and After-Tax Income Distribution Are Chosen by Voters Subject Only to Their Budget Constraints. This Paper Argues That At Certain Income Levels Voters' Decisions May Be Constrained by Bureaucratic Corruption. the Theoretical Arguments Are Developed in Asymmetry Limits the Capacity of the Fiscal System to Generate Revenues by Means of Direct Taxes. This Hypothesis Is Tested Witha Sample of International Data by Means of a Simultaneous Equation Model. the Distortions Resulting From Corruption Ar Captured Through Their Effects on a Latent Variable Defined As the Overall Fiscal Structure. Evidence Is Found of Causality Running From This Latent Variable to the Level of Taxes and the Degree of After Tax Inequality.
This paper describes an accounting system (IPNA) for heterogenous IP-networks with arbitrary topologies implemented at the university of Kaiserslautern. The produced data volume per unit is numerated. The collected data is stored in a database and offers different analysis possibilities. The results can be visualized and adapted to the users requirements.
The main effort was to build a data traffic quota system for single units as
well as groups of devices that also report exceeded quotas. The system
itself only observes the network traffic. Interfaces offer tools to interact with the network. The IPNA consists of a back-end for the data- acquisition and -preparation and a front-end for configuration and visualization tasks including quality control.
Most of the aggregate level analyses on the relationship between objective and subjective measures for well-being have limited themselves to measures of national GDP and mean life satisfaction. We develop this line of research by embedding the analysis into the context of 289 NUTS regions in Europe and replacing the simple life satisfaction measure with measures of active human functioning. This approach suggest that the measures of personal and social well-being, as they are operationalized in the 6th round European Social Survey (ESS) questionnaire, can be treated as subjective indicators for social and human capital and thereby be are associated with the regional level GDP in cross-sectional analysis. The focus of this study could hence be defined as an interdisciplinary attempt to understand economic reality from the perspective of...
In the context of leaf roughness study for precision spray- ing applications, this article deals with its characterisation by computer vision techniques. Texture analysis is a pri- mordial step for applications based on image analysis such as medical or agronomical imaging. The aim is to classify textures after extraction of discriminating features. How- ever, this problem remains complex in the case of natural leaves because of changes in lighting, scaling or orienta- tion. There we consider a family of invariants from the frequency domain called Generalized Fourier Descriptors whose dimensionality is proportional to the spatial resolu- tion of the images. These features used with a Support Vec- tor Machines classifier lead to good results in terms of clas- sification error rate when the dimensionality is small but it gives more error...
Collaborative Information Seeking/Retrieval (CIS/CIR) has given rise to several challenges in terms of search behavior analysis, retrieval model formalization as well as interface design. However, the major issue of evaluation in CIS/CIR is still underexplored. The goal of this workshop is to investigate the evaluation challenges in CIS/CIR with the hope of building standardized evaluation frameworks, methodolo-gies, and task specifications that would foster and grow the research area (in a collaborative fashion).
This thesis focuses on Paradox Interactive's information seeking as a process in the construction of historical computer games. The study is collecting data through a series of interviews with two professional groups: Content designers and 3D graphics. The study focuses on the role of information gathering as a internal process in the creation of the game but also on how the two professions, which have been involved in the study's interviews, gather information relevant to their specific tasks. The study also touches on whether it exists a connection between how Content designers and 3D graphics conduct their searches for information and the ABM sector (that is archives, libraries and museums) as sources/distributors of information. The study has resulted in knowledge regarding the professional groups' information behaviour, what fac...
This article presents an automated construction of a logical information context from a terminological resource, available in xml ; we apply this to the resource FranceTerme and to Camelis tool and we discuss how the resulting context can be used with such a tool dedicated to logical contexts. The purpose of this development and the choices related to this experiment is twofold : to facilitate the use of a rich linguistic resource available as open-data in xml ; to test and envision a systematic transformation of such xml resources to logical contexts. A logical view of a context allows to explore information in a flexible way, without writing explicit queries, it may also provide insights on the quality of the data. Such a context can be enriched by other information (of diverse natures), it can also be linked with other applications ...
© 2014 Informa UK Ltd. Purpose: To validate a personalized routing technique with wheelchair users, understand their route choices and acquire their feedback on the necessity of wheelchair navigation and the importance of personalized routes. Method: A routing technique using a weighting method, called Absolute Restriction Method (ARM), was employed to compute personalized routes based on users' routing preferences. The evaluation involves five manual wheelchair users. The study protocol consists of three sessions: pre-activity, activity and post-activity sessions. The evaluation included a comparison between personalized routes and shortest feasible routes, in terms of route characteristics and users' ratings of important parameters. Results: Subjects travelled a 14.64% longer distance along the personalized routes than the shortest f...
